NTL Case Study

Having successfully advised NTL through its Chapter 11 refinancing and its subsequent merger with Telewest, Buchanan worked alongside senior executives in completing the high profile acquisition of Virgin Mobile for £963 million in April 2006.

The transaction created the first communications 'quad' offering in the UK - aligning the traditional cable services of fixed line telephony, digital television and broadband with mobile telephony.  The high profile acquisition also saw the end of the NTL / Telewest brand following an agreement for the Company to adopt the Virgin brand over the forthcoming months.

Buchanan coordinated all media relations, hosting a press conference with senior NTL executives and Sir Richard Branson, whilst producing support material in the form of scripts, Q&A and key messaging. 

Given the size and profile of the transaction subsequent media and analyst interest was intense with activity continuing beyond the initial announcement.

Today, NTL now trades under the Virgin Media brand and is committed to delivering four converged services.
