Neuropharm is a speciality pharmaceutical group focused on the development of medicines for the treatment and management of neuro-developmental disorders. The Group's vision is to be a partner of choice for clinicians and patient organisations working in the field of neuro-developmental disorders and to develop effective therapies which offer significant benefits for physicians, healthcare providers and patients alike.

By demonstrating clinical benefits in treating disorders in respect of which few or no existing medicines are approved, and by working initially with compounds with established safety profiles, Neuropharm is aiming to reduce the risk of product development failure, accelerate the timeline to product approval and to substantially reduce costs compared with the traditional process of new drug discovery. Neuropharm draws upon its own expertise and that of specialist partners in respect of its development projects and works with partners who have relevant IP, drug delivery technology or manufacturing process knowledge.

Neuropharm's lead product is a new low-dose presentation of fluoxetine for use in patients with autism (NPL-2008). Subject to completion of formulation trials and regulatory approval the product is expected to be launched in the US during the fourth quarter of 2009. Neuropharm has Orphan Drug Designation for NPL-2008, and for NPL-2009, a potential treatment for Fragile X Syndrome. In July 2007 Neuropharm signed a collaboration agreement with the influential US charitable organisation Autism Speaks in preparation for a planned multi-centre trial of NPL-2008.

Buchanan advised Neuropharm on its IPO in March 2007 which raised £20 million (gross) to progress its pipeline of treatments. Since then, Buchanan has helped Neuropharm to raise its profile within the financial community and has assisted the company with fielding enquiries from people whose lives are affected by developmental and degenerative disorders, including patients, carers, parents and patient groups.

Neuropharm was presented with the AIM Best Technology Award 2007. The share price rose 40% in 2007 and the market capitalisation of Neuropharm at autumn 2007 is approximately £60 million.
