Jetion
How many solar companies can list on AIM before investors get bored? Is China still the stock market darling and 'must have' for your portfolio?
These were some of the issues Jetion had to address as it commenced the path to an AIM listing - and a successful placing.
Central to its investment case, as with all AIM companies, is the quality of management, the strength of the current business, its medium-term growth plans and the wider sector backdrop.
Jetion ticked all of these boxes as its solar cell manufacturing business is poised for significant growth - and proceeds from the IPO were to be employed in doubling its manufacturing capacity. Buchanan worked with the company to develop all of these themes in its institutional presentation, press releases and the media introductions effected during the period.
Jetion roadshowed throughout May and June 2007 - and successfully raised £38 million through its NOMAD and broker Collins Stewart. Upon listing, Jetion commenced public life with a market capitalisation of $220 million.
Its key market of Europe has been a strong growth region, and with solid legislation driving the demand for renewable energy, demand is likely to remain strong as Jetion continues to grow.
